Ditch the standard breakfast routine for these zesty, 8-minute bites. By pairing hot sausage with hand-shredded cheddar and baking them in a pizza oven, you get a golden-brown crunch and savory center that a regular oven just can't match.

This recipe takes the iconic Southern sausage ball and gives it a high-heat upgrade for a crunchier, more flavorful result. In just 8 minutes, you’ll have a tray of golden, zesty poppers packed with melted cheddar and hot sausage kick.
If you don’t have a pan cooking directly on the stone will work perfectly fine, it will just take more time as you have to place the balls individually on the stone as it turns.
Ingredients
- 2 cups bisquick
- 16 ounce hot sausage
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (shred the cheese yourself for better flavor)
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tsp parsley
- 1 tsp black pepper
- water as needed
Directions
Pre-heat oven on Low
- Mix all ingredients by hand in a large bowl until well blended.
- Roll mixture into evenly sized balls about 1″ in diameter (slightly smaller than ping pong balls)
- Place balls evenly spaced onto a wire pizza pan (can be placed directly on stone but requires more work putting them in and taking them out).
- Cook on low until the balls turn golden brown, about 8 minutes.
