With a crispy exterior and melty inside, these grilled cheese hot dogs are the ultimate way to celebrate National Hot Dog Day or elevate any meal. Jumbo beef franks are grilled on the HALO ELITE Griddle, then tucked into sandwich buns with gooey Colby Jack cheese, savory bacon bits, and a golden garlic butter crust.
Ingredients
- Jumbo beef franks (Marketplace or your favorite)
- Colby Jack cheese (sliced)
- Bacon bits
- 1 stick butter (softened)
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 3 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
- 3 tbsp Parmesan cheese
Directions
Preheat the HALO Griddle
Heat the griddle to medium heat (about 375°F). Use one side for cooking the hot dogs and the other side for toasting the sandwiches.
Make the Garlic Butter
n a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and Parmesan until well combined.
Cook the Hot Dogs
Place the jumbo beef franks on the griddle and cook, turning occasionally, until they are browned and slightly crispy (about 5-7 minutes). Move them to a cooler side of the griddle to keep warm.
Assemble the Sandwiches
- Butter one side of each bread slice with the garlic butter mixture.
- Place a slice of Colby Jack cheese on the unbuttered side.
Add a cooked hot dog and sprinkle with bacon bits.
Top with another slice of cheese and close the sandwich with the second piece of bread (buttered side out).
Grill the Sandwiches
Place the sandwiches on the griddle and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden and crispy with the cheese melted inside. Use a spatula to press down slightly for even browning.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
Slice the sandwiches and serve hot! Add a side of your favorite dipping sauces (like ranch or marinara) if you’re feeling extra.
